Eye Care FAQs
Your consultation is entirely personal. As well as clear vision, our advice can help you frame the world your way. We guide you through the process of finding a unique frame that fits perfectly, with your prescription, bespoke tints or light-sensitive coatings for comfort and style. The cost of a consultation with Dickens depends on what you require. Contact our reception team for detailed pricing information.
Please prepare a list of any medications you are on, your medical history for our clinicians to document, and any other relevant information for our staff to be aware of. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, bring your current pair and prescription along as well.
To ensure a thorough consultation, avoid wearing makeup around your eyes on the day of the appointment, and if you have booked for a contact lens assessment, you will be informed if you are required to be wearing them at the time of the appointment. Should you have any questions in advance, please feel free to email us at hello@dickenseyeclinic.co.uk.
Sight tests include a full sight test and OCT scanning as standard for people aged 26 to 60. If you are under 26 or over 60, an OCT can be performed for an additional cost on request, or if it is recommended by one of our Clinicians the cost of this is covered. This should be discussed during your appointment with the Clinician before a scan is performed.
Experts recommended everyone have an eye exam at least once every two years. However, this can vary with your age, medical history, and risk factors for eye conditions. Our clinicians will advise you on the ideal schedule for your eyes, your lifestyle and your history.
Your eye health is key to your vision and maintaining your lifestyle. Eye conditions are often progressive, worsening over time and obscuring your vision. Regular eye exams are instrumental in detecting potential issues early, which can mean treatment is more effective. Conditions we look for early signs of include glaucoma, macular degeneration, or diabetic retinopathy.
This consultation is for people who want to discuss lenses that may help stabilise their prescription, or who want to be free from spectacles and contact lenses during the day. Because this type of consultation requires specialist training, and more time and oversight from our Clinicians, there are additional fees for the initial consultations. Please call or email hello@dickenseyeclinic.co.uk for more information.
